Magdalena Zelazko is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor Intern, Specializing in the Treatment of Eating Disorders.

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE:

Magdalena is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor Intern who has over 6 years of experience working in the field of eating disorders. Magdalena has worked with adults and adolescents who struggled with various eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, binge eating disorder, etc.) at higher levels of care, including Residential (RTC), Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP). She has experience leading various psychoeducational groups related to eating and mood disorders, providing meal and prep support, as well as working with families throughout the treatment journey. She has served as the director of programs that specialize in treating eating disorders, as well as co-occurring mood and anxiety disorders. Magdalena believes that all individuals have the right to quality and individualized care. Magdalena's passion for working with the eating disorder population has grown over her career and continues to do so. Magdalena is currently working towards her LPC and is under the supervision of Mallory Silberman, LCSW.

MAGDALENA'S APPROACH

Magdalena values authenticity, transparency, curiosity, and humor, and she carries these values into her work with clients. Magdalena is warm and down-to-earth, and really values the therapeutic relationship built with her clients. She understands the complexities and challenges that life can hold, and that balancing all those things on top of struggling with eating, body image, etc. can be really hard. She is passionate about supporting others by meeting them where they are at, helping them become their authentic selves, and empowering them to make the changes they wish to see.

 

Magdalena identifies as being Health At Every Size (HAES) aligned and utilizes this approach when working with clients, as well as Intuitive Eating. She utilizes a non judgemental Strengths-Based approach that uses various evidence-based practices, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), and others. Magdalena also greatly values mindfulness and meditation practices and utilizes this with clients to support distress tolerance, emotion regulation and self-care.
