DISORDERED EATING IN SPORTS AND COMPULSIVE EXERCISE

Up to 84% of collegiate athletes reported engaging in maladaptive eating and weight control behaviors, such as binge eating, excessive exercise, strict dieting, fasting, self-induced vomiting, and the use of weight loss supplements increasing the risk of developing eating disorders, sports related injuries related to nutritional deficiencies and potential medical concerns such as the Female Triad. Our team of dietitians and therapist work to address nutrition, eating concerns and emotional pressures related to sports engagement and/or compensatory or compulsive exercise to ensure proper sports nutrition is met to support the physical demands within the “All Foods Fit” framework and reframing movement to one that supports overall health and to support disordered eating recovery.
